Why are snacks so addictive?

By Anjita D.

Snacks are addictive due to their high sugar, salt, and fat content, as well as their capacity to trigger the brain's reward system.

Additionally, dopamine, a neurotransmitter, is released by the brain to induce pleasure, leading to cravings and increased consumption.

Despite their harmful, processed snacks are usually appealing because of their strong flavours and textures, making them difficult to resist.

Hence, snacks' easy availability makes them simple to overeat, and their supposed health benefits can justify intake even if they aren't true.

To maintain a healthy diet, set snack limits to avoid excessive consumption and choose nutritious, nutrient-dense snacks.
