Why did glass spectacles invented?

The origins of glass spectacles are unknown, however the first evidence of them dates back to the 13th century in Italy.

During a sermon in 1284, Dominican friar Giordano da Pisa claimed to have met the inventor of spectacles.

Earlier, it most likely consisted of glass or crystal convex lenses, used to correct hyperopia and presbyopia, or the age-related loss of close vision

Salvino D'Armate, a Florence-based glassmaker, and Alessandro della Spina, a Dominican friar from Pisa are two main inventors.

Overall, it has evolved over centuries with improved lenses, comfortable frames, stylish designs, serving people of all ages to correct vision problem
