Why did vaseline invented?

By MindStick

Robert Chesebrough, a chemist from New York, created Vaseline in 1859.

He observed that oil workers in Titusville, Pennsylvania, were healing cuts and burns with rod wax, a natural waxy residue.

He was interested by the healing capabilities of rod wax, so he returned to his Brooklyn lab and began experimenting with it.

He created Vaseline, a transparent rod wax jelly known for its healing and skin protection benefits, especially beneficial to oil workers and farmers.

Today, it is very popular, and has been used by mothers to treat diaper rash, soothe dry skin, protect against cold and wind, and moisturize lips.
