Reason behind helmet invention?

By MindStick

Helmets are ancient warrior tools, dating back to 2500 BC, made of leather or bone, used to protect heads from blows and arrows.

Bronze helmets were prevalent in ancient civilizations like Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians, and many more.

Whereas iron helmets gained popularity in the Iron Age, used by Greeks, Romans and eastern asian empires.

Medieval steel helmets protected wearers from various weapons like swords, axes & maces, with some featuring guards for eyes & nose protection.

Later, leather or cork were used by workers in 19th-century industries like mining and construction, becoming mandatory in the early 20th century.

Today, it is essential for various purposes such as military, industrial, sports, motorcycle & bicycle protection, ensuring safety from head injuries.
