Whittier is a tiny city located 58 miles south-east of Anchorage near the head of the Passage Canal, Alaska.

City is renowned for being a "town under one roof," with practically all of its people residing in the Begich Towers Condominium.

The Begich Towers, a 14-story building housing most town residents and businesses, offers a tour with an observation deck on the top floor.

It was established in 1942 as a military base, was abandoned post-war but repopulated by civilians in the 1950s, with Begich Towers serving as housing

Today, it is a popular tourist destination near Prince William Sound, offers a variety of activities: fishing, kayaking, hiking, and wildlife watching
