India's basmati rice exports in 2022-23 reached 4.1 million MMT, valued at USD 4.2 billion, according to APEDA.
Furthermore, in the previous year, there was a 10% increase in volume and a 15% increase in value.
Basmati rice exports reached 1.97 million tons in the first six months of fiscal year 2023-24, worth USD 2.2 billion.
It has increased by 14.6% and volume by 4.36% in the first six months of 2023-24, reaching 1.97 MMT and USD 2.2 billion respectively.
The government imposed a minimum export price of USD 1,200 per tonne in August 2023 to prevent the export of non-basmati rice as basmati rice.
