Rubber hairs, also known as vent spews, are mini rubber strands that appear on new tires as a result of the tire manufacturing process.
When a tyre is manufactured, uncured rubber is injected into a mould and pressed into all the nooks and crevices.
Small vent holes in the mould let air to escape while the rubber squeezes out, cooling and hardening into the hairs of the finished tyre.
Vent spews on a finished tyre signify newness, however they will wear off over time due to normal use and exposure to the environment.
Vent spews from tires aren't harmful to tire performance or lifespan, but if they're unsightly, they can be removed manually or using tweezers.
