Who invented exams?

Exams were invented in the late 19th century by Henry Fischel, an American businessman and philanthropist.

He created examinations to assess both pupils' general topic knowledge and their ability to apply that knowledge.

Moreover, the earliest exam in the world, known as the Imperial Examination held in China in the 7th century and lasted until the early 20th century.

Later, exams were adopted to other countries, like India, where the British Empire launched the Civil Services Examination in the late 1800s.

Exams are currently used throughout the world to assess students' knowledge and skills in a wide range of areas.
