What is Chalcolithic Age?

By MindStick

Chalcolithic Age, also known as the Copper Age or Eneolithic Age, was an archaeological period characterized by the increased usage of smelted copper.

It comes after the Neolithic and before the Bronze Age, began in the Middle East approximately 6500 BCE, and spread to Europe and Asia by 4000 BCE.

It lasted until 3000 to 1800 BCE, when the Bronze Age began in different locations at different periods, which introduced wheel, plough, and sail.

It also enhanced transportation and communication, facilitating commercial and cultural interchange and the growth of complex societies.

During this time, the first cities appeared, as did the first temples and other public structures.
