Pani puri, a meal made by Draupadi, the wife of the Pandava in the Mahabharata, was challenged to satisfy her five sons by her mother-in-law, Kunti.
Draupadi made pani puri with leftover dough and aloo sabzi, which was a success with the brothers.
According to another narrative, pani puri originated in the ancient kingdom of Magadha, which is today part of Bihar.
