Facts about Sawfish

Sawfish are rays with a long, narrow, flattened rostrum, or snout extension, lined with sharp transverse teeth in the shape of a saw.

They are among the largest fish, reaching lengths of 7-7.6 m (23-25 ft) in some species.

They are apex predators, or at the top of the food chain. Their diet is made up of various fish, crabs, and molluscs.

They are slow-growing and long-lived creatures. They can take up to 20 years to mature and live for more than 50 years.

Unfortunately, their species is endangered and listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
