What is Guinness World Records?

By Anjita D.

Sir Hugh Beaver, the managing director of Guinness Brewery, launched Guinness World Records in 1955.

He was inspired to write the book following a debate with his pals regarding the quickest game bird in Europe.

They couldn't find a solution in any reference book, so Beaver decided to write one to put an end to such debates.

It is an annual British reference book that lists world records of both human achievements and natural extremes.

Today, with over 145 million copies sold in over 200 countries and territories, it is the best-selling copyrighted book series in the world.
