He is 251 cm (8 feet 2.82 in) tall.
Kösen's growth was caused by the disorders gigantism and acromegaly, which were induced by a pituitary tumour.
He walks with crutches due to his illness.
Guinness World Records confirmed Kösen as the highest living man in 2009.
