The Indian pangolin (Manis crassicaudata), commonly known as the thick-tailed pangolin and scaly anteater, is a type of pangolin found in India.
They have a cone-shaped head with small, black eyes, a long muzzle, and a nose pad that is the same colour as, or darker than, its pinkish-brown skin.
They are insectivores that eat ants, termites, beetles, and cockroaches using a specially specialised long, sticky tongue.
However, the IUCN Red List classifies them as Endangered because of habitat degradation and hunting for their flesh and scales.
Its scales are used in traditional Chinese medicine, and its meat is a delicacy in some Asian countries.
