Amazing facts about Barreleye

Barreleye fish, commonly known as spook fish (Macropinna microstoma), are small deep-sea fish.

It resides in the twilight zone, 600 to 800 metres (2,000 to 2,600 ft) below the ocean's surface.

They're distinguished by their translucent skull and tubular eyes that point upwards.

The barreleye fish's eyes are actually at the bottom of the head, but they are protected by a reflective covering that allows them to view upward.

The fish's eyes can also rotate forwards, allowing it to see ahead of it.
