Fascinating Jacana bird

By MindStick

Jacanas are a family of tropical wading birds. They are omnivores who eat a range of insects, crustaceans, and seeds.

Their extended toes and claws let them walk on floating plants in shallow lakes, which is their prefered environment.

They are also one of the few bird species in which the females are larger than the males.

During the breeding season, this species maintains harems of males, with males primarily responsible for incubating eggs and caring for young.

They are medium-sized birds that are 20 to 30 centimetres (8 to 12 inches) in length.
