Transparent fish

Transparent fish have mainly or entirely transparent bodies. Their internal organs and other structures are visible through their skin.

The transparent gob is a tiny pelagic fish found in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

South-east Asia is home to the glass catfish. Because of its transparent body and iridescent scales, it is a popular aquarium fish.

The moonfish is a deep sea fish found in tropical & subtropical waters and well-known for its huge, clear body and ability to produce light.

The Pacific Ocean is home to the Barreleye fish. It has a transparent head and upward-pointing eyes, allowing it to observe prey above it.
