Difference between alligator and crocodile

Crocodiles have a thin, V-shaped nose, but alligators have a broad, U-shaped snout.

When alligators close their mouths, their lower teeth are not visible. Crocodiles lower teeth are visible, most notably the fourth tooth on each side.

Crocodiles are more olive or tan in colour than alligators, which are dark grey or black.

Crocodiles are more aggressive than alligators.

Alligators are found in freshwater habitats whereas crocodiles can live in both freshwater and saltwater habitats
