The gulper eel (Eurypharynx pelecanoides) is a deep-sea fish with a pelican-like mouth.
They reside in the ocean's mesopelagic and bathypelagic zones, which are 200 to 4,000 metres deep.
Their mouth is so enormous that they can swallow prey much larger than themselves.
They attract prey by using a bioluminescent lure on their chin.
Gulper eels are frequently referred to as "pelican eels" because to their likeness to pelicans.
