The great potoo (Nyctibius grandis) is a nocturnal bird found throughout Central and South America.
It is the largest of the seven potoo species, with a massive head, wide eyes, and cryptic plumage.
They eat mostly huge insects like moths and beetles. They also consume tiny animals like bats and frogs.
They have outstanding night vision and can identify prey from great distances.
The female lays two eggs. Both parents incubate the eggs, which hatch in around 30 days. After 45 days, the chicks leave the nest.
