The bizarre goblin shark (Mitsukurina owstoni) has been described as a "living fossil" and a "monster from the deep."
Due to its long, flat snout, protruding jaws, and sharp, nail-like teeth.
They live in deep waters, usually 600 to 1,300 metres beneath the surface.
They are rarely observed by humans, and when they are, they prefer to swim away rather than attack.
Goblin sharks have pink skin, which is rare for sharks but may help them blend in with the deep water's darkness.
