The baleen humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is a type of baleen whale.

Adults can grow to be 14-17 m (46-56 ft) long and weigh up to 40 metric tonnes (44 short tonnes).

They have baleen plates instead of teeth which made up of keratinous material that is similar to human fingernails and hair.

Humpback whales filter microscopic food particles from the water using their baleen.

They are social animals and often travel in groups called pods.
