How was chess formed?

By MindStick

Chess evolved from a game called chaturanga, which first appeared in India in the sixth century CE.

Chaturanga was a four-player game played on a checkerboard with 64 squares.

Each player received four pieces: a king, a counsellor (who subsequently became the queen), an elephant, and a horse.

The modern game of chess took its final form in the 19th century.

Chess is now one of the world's most popular games. It is enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities.
