Why TikTok got banned in India?

By MindStick

TikTok was banned in India in June 2020, along with 58 other Chinese apps, over national security concerns.

The government also cited concerns about the spread of misinformation and hate speech on TikTok, and promoting harmful stereotypes.

TikTok has denied the allegations of data collection and misuse. However, the Indian government has not been convinced, and the ban remains in place.

Government alleges that TikTok is collecting user data, including location data, contact information, and browsing history, and sending it to China.

Due to the ban has led to job losses and lost revenue for businesses that relied on TikTok.
